Grind & Seal

The GALAXY Grind and Seal process is an affordable flooring option that is suitable for both indoor and outdoor areas.

This is the cheaper option for a "Polished Concrete Look" and is a cost effective flooring commonly used in homes, retail outlets, cafes, restaurants, hardware stores & warehouses, factories and commercial properties just to name a few, as an attractive low maintenance, hard wearing flooring finish that is resistant to many elements.

Grind and Seal is a process of grinding concrete to the desired stone exposure level removing as many scratches as possible, filling minor cracks and surface imperfections to give the concrete a smooth level appearance, and then applying a clear or coloured high quality protective sealer to enhance wear and durability.

Levels of Stone / Aggregate exposure

A full exposure gives a full stone effect,
Random exposure is where there are variances of stone showing
"Salt and Pepper" or Light Random exposure is when the concrete is lightly ground so that minimal stone is seen
Coloured sealers are opaque (not clear) therefore aggregate exposure is unseen
Options for exposure level may vary depending on the condition of the concrete

Grind & Seal - Maintenance

Coatings take 5-7 days to fully cure
Keep internal floors vacuumed and dirt free
Protective pads under furniture is recommended
Micro fibre mops are best for a streak free cleaning result
If using a cleaning solution use a PH Neutral Floor Care cleaning solution and rinse with clean water
Spills should be cleaned as soon as possible
Clean outdoor areas by sweeping - if desired hose down & sweep excess water
Generally Sealers will need to be re-applied every 5-7 years depending on traffic

The Grind & Seal Process

Preliminary Grind with Coarse 30 Grit diamond abrasives for even surface level
Preliminary Grind to Expose Aggregate/Stone to desired level of exposure, which is the amount of stone that you can see in the finished result
Grind with Medium 60 Grit diamond abrasives to remove as many scratches as possible
Fill minor cracks and holes as required
Grind with fine 120 Grit diamond abrasives
Apply 2-3 coats of clear or coloured sealer
Allow 5-7 days to fully cure
